PROCEDURES :: EYE/BROW LIFT
Breast augmentation is used to enhance the size and shape of a woman's breasts. If you are looking for improvement and are healthy and have realistic expectations, then you are a good candidate for breast augmentation.
Eyelid surgery removes fat, excess skin and muscle from the upper and lower eyelids and can correct drooping upper lids and puffy bags below the eyes. A tightening of the lower eyelids is sometimes advised at the time of surgery. Eyelid surgery will not remove crow's feet or other wrinkles and cannot remove dark circles. Other procedures may be necessary to improve upon these types of problems.
Eyelid surgery is very often performed in conjunction with face lift and/or brow lift surgery but may also be performed alone. Eyelid surgery complications are infrequent and generally minor.
At your initial consultation Dr. Rebot will assess your face and eyelids and make recommendations. Those recommendations may include whether you need upper or lower eyelids or both, and/or whether face lift or brow lift should be considered.
One should plan on being off work or social activities for at least one week. Bruising after eyelid surgery is very individualized and occasionally may last up to 2 - 3 weeks.
Is Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery Right For Me?
Eyelid surgery is performed on men and women of all ages who want to improve their self-image. Most people have eyelid surgery to minimize the effects of aging. However, many people in their 20s or 30s may also benefit from the procedure.
You may be a good candidate for eyelid surgery if you have any of the following conditions:
• Excess skin that hides the natural fold of the upper eyelids
• Loose skin that hangs down from the upper eyelids
• Puffiness in the upper eyelids that creates a tired look
• Excess skin and fine wrinkles of the lower eyelids
• Puffy “bags” and, in some cases, dark circles.
Eyelid surgery needs to be approached with extra caution if you have any of the following medical conditions:
• Thyroid problems, such as hypothyroidism or Graves' disease
• Lower eyelids that droop significantly and reveal the white beneath the iris (the eye's colored portion)
• Eye problems, such as “dry eye,” a detached retina or glaucoma
• High blood pressure or other circulatory disorders
• Cardiovascular disease
A forehead lift, also known as a browlift can minimize some of the most visible signs of aging i.e. drooping eyebrows, hooding over the eyes, forehead furrows and frown lines.
The muscles that cause the problems are altered to smooth the forehead, raise the upper eyelids and minimize frown lines. The result can be a more alert, more animated, more youthful appearance. The forehead lift is a relatively simple procedure. It can be done alone or in conjunction with other procedures, such as a face lift or eyelid surgery. Is A Forehead Lift Right For Me?
Forehead lifts are most commonly performed on men and women in the 40-60 year old age range. However, there is no age limit to the procedure. It can also produce good results for younger adults who have inherited stress-related conditions, such as low eyebrows or furrows above the nose.
You may be a good candidate for a forehead lift if you have any of the following types of conditions:
• Sagging or low position of the eyebrows, creating a tired or sad appearance
• Deep horizontal creases across the forehead
• Frown lines, or furrows, between the eyebrows and sometimes across the top of the nose
How will I Learn About the Safety of Forehead Lift Surgery?
Each year, thousands of men and women undergo forehead lifts and experience no major complications. However, it is important for you to be informed of the risks as well as the benefits. One of the most important parts of your consultation is the discussion that you and Dr. Rebot will have about the possible complications of forehead lift surgery. In addition to listening carefully to what Dr. Rebot tells you, be sure to raise any questions or concerns that you may have about the safety of the procedure.
Remember, by carefully following your surgeon's advice and instructions — both before and after surgery — you can do your part to minimize some of the risks.
How is a forehead lift performed?
A) A forehead lift can smooth the forehead, correct the sagging or low position of the eyebrows and soften the frown lines that come with aging.
B) With a coronal incision, often the incision is made across the top of the scalp, beginning above the ears and concealed within the hair.
C) The result of a forehead lift is a rested, more attractive look.
If you're like most people who have a forehead lift, you'll be very pleased with your refreshed and rejuvenated appearance. Although it may take several months to see your final result, you will probably agree that your new appearance was worth the wait.
A number of factors, including your heredity and your lifestyle, play a role in how long the results of your forehead lift will last. Remember, even though your “aging clock” will be turned back several years, that clock will continue to run. However, at any point in the future, you will still look better than you would have looked without surgery. Patients are usually happy with their appearance for many years following a forehead lift.
